Meet Ken and Laura

Three generations of expertise and local knowledge.

In 1965, Don Barrick began his career as a real estate professional. Starting on a shoestring, it culminated into one of the most successful brokerages in Peterborough. Growing up, we had a front row seat for real estate success. For Don, it was simple: build great relationships, provide exceptional value, and love what you do.

Continuing that tradition, we believe that real estate is about more than buying and selling homes. It’s about the next step in your life. It’s about expert guidance. It’s about partnership and trust.

Experience is everything, and we bring three generations of it to the table. For you, the impact is substantial—whether it’s getting a better price, saving countless hours with the details, or avoiding the pitfalls that only 60+ years of local knowledge can provide.

Our History

A history of innovation and community leadership.

Beyond the value we provide as realtors, we’re proud—first and foremost—of being a family-owned business with deep roots in the Peterborough community.

Don Barrick (1935 – 2016) spent almost 50 years as a fixture in the local real estate market. He had a celebrated career as an industry pioneer and community leader. Beginning as a Sales Representative, then Sales Manager for Bowes and Cocks, he was the first to franchise the Gallery of Homes. After almost 15 years of continued success at RE/MAX, he then started a Peak Realty brokerage. This eventually expanded to become Prudential Parkway Realty—the predecessor to Royal LePage Parkway Realty, and the current home of Barrick & Barrick Real Estate.

For Don, honesty, integrity, and community went part and parcel with being a realtor. He worked with countless local initiatives, and served as president of PKAR (Peterborough and the Kawarthas Association of Realtors®). His legacy went far beyond real estate, and being a great realtor meant serving both your clients and your community.

It’s a tradition we’re proud to continue.

Broker

Ken Barrick

25 years of real estate results.

Beginning his career in commercial mortgages, Ken worked for over a decade with some of the largest developers in Canada. In 1998, he joined his father’s brokerage, and together they grew it to become a very successful firm in Peterborough.

In 2013, Ken was awarded a Royal LePage brokerage (Parkway Realty), which became one of the Royal LePage Network’s top “small brokerage”. In January 2023, they merged with ProAlliance Realty. This expanded the group to over 650 Realtors®—providing even greater depth, reach and resources.

Throughout his career, Ken has consistently ranked in the top 3% of Realtors® in Peterborough, and in the top 10% of Royal LePage agents nationally.

Continuing in his father’s footsteps, he is involved extensively in the local real estate community and has assisted many charities and organizations. Among many highlights, he has served as a board member, committee member, and past president of PKAR (Peterborough and the Kawarthas Association of Realtors®). He currently sits on the Durham Region Association of Realtors® (DRAR) Finance Committee.

Outside of the office, you’re most likely to find Ken at the family cottage, boating, or barbecuing year-round. He’s also an avid Peterborough Petes fan and season ticket holder.

For me, the most important metric of our success is client referrals. We've grown almost solely based on repeat business. I'm really proud of that it tells me we're doing a great job and providing exceptional value and service.

REALTOR®

Laura Barrick

Connecting new generations.

Growing up with real estate in her blood, it was inevitable that Laura would find her way into the family business. After studying Fitness and Health at Fleming College, she received her personal-training and coaching certificate. Moving forward to real estate, she began at Royal LePage Parkway, learning the business from the ground up as a part-time Office Administrator. Her dedication and hard work paid off, and in 2019 she was certified by the Real Estate Council of Ontario—joining her father as a Realtor®. She is currently excited about the recent merger with Royal LePage ProAlliance, and looks forward to expanding the ways she can offer value to her clients.

Laura also continues the family tradition of community engagement as a member of the Peterborough & Kawarthas Chamber of Commerce.

When she’s not busy finding innovative new ways to market homes, you’ll find her at the gym, enjoying the outdoors, stand-up paddleboarding, or spending time with family and friends.

I love the possibilities in this industry and the personal connections you make. There are so many innovative new ways to market homes, interact with clients, and connect buyers and sellers. I love the process of learning what works best for each client… finding creative ways to deliver exactly what they want.
